The objective of EDI is to exchange business data between varying EDP systems and different business partners without any data and structural interruptions.
A structured and standardized information exchange allows for a fast and economic distribution of the business data such as requests for information, orders, delivery notes and invoices. The heart of the classical EDI is the EDI-Clearing Center.
